Lunch Spinner

september 2007
objective: improve how decisions as to where to eat lunch are made at work
- engineers in the office have a difficult time deciding where to go for lunch
- need a mechanical apparatus to help them decide
concept: a lunch spinner
- has relabelable restaurants written on it
- can be spun to select one restaurant
concept exploration: spinning mechanisms
a lunch spinner
In response to a need for a better way to decide where to go eat lunch every day, I designed and created a rewriteable rotating wheel for my internship advisor at Function Engineering. I submitted design proposals, we conducted design reviews, and I worked with her to accommodate her preferences, budget, and time constraints. My lunch spinner is adaptable, easy to use, and comfortably fits in my advisor’s cubicle. Lunch disputes are certainly less frequent now.
