The Challenge
Team 15: "Do It"
Dodgeball

The object of the game is to use an autonomous robot to score more points than the opponent robot in a two minute period. There are two ways to score points: one point is awarded each time a robot traverses the arena and tags a bumper on the side wall, and one point is awarded each time a robot hits its opponent in the air with a ball.

Here are the official project specifications.

The Arena

After brainstorming and coming upon our design, we began to talk strategy. In order to ease the process, we decided to create a coordinate system for both the arena and our robot.

Our Coordinate System
Our Strategy
Using a wind up toy and ruler, we began to discuss strategy.
Eventually we moved onto a lego minature of our robot to improve our game strategy discussion.
We decided to pursue a wall following tactic after orienting ourselves using our opponent's beacon. Mr. Roboto was to spin in place until he found the opponent beacon, then align himself to the south wall, release his arms, and run back and forth along the wall racking up the points. More details can be found here.
